HeartCode BLS is the blended learning delivery method for the AHA’s Basic Life Support (BLS) course. HeartCode BLS trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality CPR, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.

HeartCode blended learning delivers quality resuscitation education regardless of where providers are located and gives them more control to complete the course at their own pace.

The HeartCode BLS 2020 Guidelines use a personalized adaptive algorithm that sets students on the most efficient path to mastery. Students follow a continuously adapting learning path that is personalized by their own inputs: their performance, and their self- reported confidence level related to each probing question. The course content is presented in the form of self-directed learning content, probing questions, and Cognitive Assessment Activities (CAAs).

Providers must first complete the online portion of HeartCode BLS and then contact Emergency Medical Educators to schedule their hands-on skills assessment.

Cost of course includes access to the HeartCode BLS online course, access to BLS Provider Manual eBook (20-3102), hands-on skills assessment and BLS eCard.

The HeartCode BLS online key will be emailed from eLearning@heart.org within 24 hours of placing order.

Once the course is activated through the American Heart Association eLearning website, it will not be refundable.
